Toi-2109b is a hot jupiter. it revolves
around its sun some 855 light-years away from us. The planet takes just 15
hours for a revolution around it. It has the shortest known orbit. It
is only 2.4 million kilometres
or 1.5 million miles away from it.
Avi Shporer, an exoplanet
scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Says. "How
does a planet as massive and large as Jupiter reach an orbit that is only a few
days long? We don't have anything like this in our solar system, and we see
this as an opportunity to study them and help explain their existence."
The planet throws the planetary formation
theory out of the window. We have no reason to find little green men on the
planet.
