Ancient humans may have faced radiation risk 41,000 years ago

Evolution has its source of problems.  In speculating that humans lived here tens of thousands years ago, it causes another difficulty.

In evolution, mankind is derived from apelike creatures over thousands of years, but who designed us humans?

In their view, “around 41,000 years ago, Earth’s magnetic field weakened to just a fraction of modern levels, leading to a huge increase in the radiation hitting the surface of the planet. Some researchers suggest the Laschamps event, as it is known, could have pushed Neanderthals towards extinction, while modern humans might have protected themselves using tailored clothing and ochre sunscreen.

Earth’s magnetic field extends into space and acts as a protective shield against harmful radiation. The magnetic poles usually line up with the north and south poles, but they occasionally wander due to changes in the liquid outer core of the planet. “Fluctuations in this system can lead to variations in the strength and orientation of Earth’s magnetic field, such as those observed during the Laschamps event,” says Agnit Mukhopadhyay at the University of Michigan.

By studying magnetic signatures preserved in volcanic rocks and sediments, Mukhopadhyay and his colleagues created a detailed 3D reconstruction of Earth’s magnetic field during the Laschamps event.

They found evidence that the magnetic poles had shifted towards the equator and that the field strength had weakened to just 10 per cent of today’s levels.

Auroras, created by charged particles hitting the upper atmosphere, are usually only visible close to the poles, but this would have changed during the Laschamps event. “Auroras would have been visible in much wider areas, possibly even near the equator,” says Mukhopadhyay.

A weakened magnetic field would have allowed more solar and cosmic radiation to reach Earth’s surface, and may have altered regional climates. “These environmental changes may have driven adaptive behaviours in human populations, such as the increased use of protective clothing and ochre for UV shielding,” says Mukhopadhyay.

The researchers argue that the production of tailored clothing and the use of the reddish mineral ochre as a sunscreen may have given Homo sapiens an advantage over Neanderthals, who are thought to have become extinct

Veronica Waweru at Yale University says there is evidence for ancient humans using ochre around this time. For example, the Porc-Epic site in Ethiopia records ochre use at 45,000 years ago, but this intensified 40,000 years ago, she says. They may have used it for sunscreen or other reasons such as making artwork or adhesives.”

Ladislav Nejman at JCMM in the Czech Republic says we don’t know if modern humans used ochre as a sunscreen. “If they did, it could’ve protected them more, but not necessarily saved them,” he says. “Humans in Europe really had it stacked against them at the time.”

He points out that the Laschamps event coincided with an extremely cold period known as Heinrich event 4, as well as a major volcanic eruption in Italy called the Campanian Ignimbrite explosion.

“The huge advantage that Homo sapiens had as a species compared to Neanderthals is that there “were other large populations,   living in Africa and elsewhere, so new Homo sapiens could move into Europe after these events,” says Nejman.”

Space has its own mysteries

When material falls toward a black hole, “it forms an accretion disk that emits x-rays and optical light and sometimes also a jet that is visible at radio wavelengths”.

Current theory says “if the disk contains a sufficiently strong magnetic field, then it can resist the gravitational pull of the black hole and temporarily halt the accretion process.”

Space has its odd features, and mysteries,

Earth's magnetic field has weakened in time

Scientists recently discovered that A reversal in Earth's magnetic field thousands of years ago plunged the planet into an environmental crisis. It happened 42,000 years ago, according to the evolution timescale.

According to evolutionists, Our planet's magnetic field is dynamic and, numerous times, it has flipped — when the magnetic North and South Poles swap places. About once every 200,000 to 300,000 years, the field weakens enough to reverse polarity completely.

Earth's magnetosphere — the magnetic barrier surrounding the planet — originates from the churning of hot, molten metal around its iron core. This is an intelligent design feature and has nothing to do with evolution.

Researchers were looking for data for climate change. They look into changes in levels of carbon 14, a radioactive form of the element bog-and preserved kauri trees (Agathis australis) from northern New Zealand and thought these were caused by. brief polarity reversal called the Laschamps Excursion, which took place between 41,000 and 42,000 years ago and thought the megafauna in Australia began to go extinct and Neanderthals in Europe were dying out at that time.  Scientists recently discovered that A reversal in Earth's magnetic field thousands of years ago plunged the planet into an environmental crisis. Earth's Magnetic Pole Is Wandering

Earth's north magnetic pole is on the move, unpredictably lurching away from the Canadian Arctic and toward Siberia. It's wandered so much, that the current representation of the entire globe's magnetic field, just updated in 2015, is now out of date.

This updated model, called the World Magnetic Model, was will be published om January 30.

Secular scientist have this story to tell: “the giant, central bar magnet loses its intensity, this other magnetic field gains more influence over Earth's magnetic field.” This may say that the switch to Siberia means, Ronald Merrill explains.

Earth’s magnetic field has been decreasing at 5 per cent annually. Extrapolating backward, a stronger field would have made the earth uninhabitable some tens of thousands of years ago.

However, believers in millions of years have this the trust that Earth is losing its magnetic field occasionally.

Earth’s Magnetic Field Is Still Decaying

“For the past 160 years, the strength of the magnetic field has been decreasing at an alarming rate,” says a press release issued by the University. of Rochester.

University of Rochester professor John Tarduno and colleagues went to southern Africa to examine an area called known as the South Atlantic Anomaly.

They think that something spectacular is happening there.

“The magnetic field is generated by swirling, liquid iron in Earth’s outer core. It is here, roughly 1800 miles beneath the African continent, that a special feature exists. Seismological data has revealed a denser region deep beneath southern Africa called the African Large Low Shear Velocity Province. The region is located right above the boundary between the hot liquid outer core and the stiffer, cooler mantle. Sitting on top of the liquid outer core, it may sink slightly, disturbing the flow of iron and ultimately affecting Earth’s magnetic field.”

Earth’s magnetic field protects us from radiation coming from the Sun

Research has shown that Earth had a magnetic field from the beginning.
.
The weakening of the magnetic field is a huge problem for those who believe in billions of years, so they have to believe that it is “a recurrent anomaly” and invoke magnetic reversals.

However, there is no known mechanism that could cause such reversals.

Mercury’s Magnetic Field Supports Young Age for the Solar System

In 1975 NASA’s Mariner 10 spacecraft flew past Mercury at a distance of 327 km (203 miles). It carried equipment that measured the planet’s magnetic field. Nine years later, physicist Russell D. Humphreys predicted that by 1990 Mercury’s magnetic field should be 1.8 per cent weaker than in 1975.

No spacecraft was sent to Mercury in 1990. Now NASA’s Messenger space probe flew past the solar system’s innermost planet. Preliminary data on the magnetic field were published in July in Science. The results indicate that Humphreys was right – Mercury’s magnetic field is indeed considerably weaker than it was in 1975, by roughly 4 per cent.

Humphrey’s based his calculations on the biblical estimation of the solar system’s age (ca. 6000 years). “My predicted four percent decrease in only 33 years would be very hard for evolutionary theories of planetary magnetic fields to explain”, writes Dr. Humphreys on the Creation Ministries International webpage.

“When NASA’s space program began many decades ago, nobody expected it to vindicate Scripture so strongly, ” Humphreys concludes.

Other evidence also point to a young solar system. For instance, the methanological cycle on Saturn’s moon Titan is relatively young. The rain on Titan is liquid methane. Recently researchers at Johns Hopkins University in Laurel, Maryland examined the images sent by the Huygens space probe. They found out that there is much less tholin, a substance made up of carbon, hydrogen and nitrogen, on Titan’s surface than predicted by a model in which the solar system’s age is estimated to be billions of years.

Another fascinating fact that speaks for a young solar system is the existence of short-term comets. Every time a comet passes the sun, it loses some of its mass and thus no short-term comet could last over 100, 000 years. Astronomers have speculated that a hypothetical stretch of space called the Oort Cloud that extends up to three light years from the sun houses millions of frozen comets. Every now and then these cold comets change to a shorter orbit that takes them closer to the sun. However, there is no observational evidence for the existence of this cloud. In other words, the Oort Cloud was invented because belief in an old solar system required it.

The weakening of Mercury’s magnetic field adds to this fascinating list of evidence for a young solar system.
