New Trends in Creation: Answers in Genesis Opens Full-Size Noah’s Ark; Institute for Creation Research Builds New Museum

AiG and ICR have great projects in store for 2016 and beyond, featuring Noah’s Ark, for instance.

Joel Kontinen

2016 looks like a good year for friends of creation. Answers in Genesis is opening its Noah’s Ark Encounter in July. The Institute for Creation Research is beginning the construction of the Dallas Museum of Science and Earth History.

Both projects are huge, and they will do much to balance evolutionary propaganda that our world is too full of.

Molecules-to-Man Evolution is Nonsense, Scientists Say

Joel Kontinen

Recently, The Dallas Morning News published an interesting article on the origins research currently conducted at the Institute for Creation Research.

After stating that most scientist believe in evolution, the paper went on the say:

“But at the Institute for Creation Research in northwest Dallas, a group of nine Ph.D.s from places like Harvard and Los Alamos National Laboratory say all that molecules-to-man stuff is nonsense. And they’re out to prove it.”

Yes, they are real scientists with real credentials from prestigious universities doing real research.

Creation Legend Dr. Duane T. Gish Has Passed Away

Dr. Duane Gish passed away this week. Image courtesy of CreationWiki.

Joel Kontinen

Dr. Duane T. Gish, one of the pioneers of the modern creationist movement, died earlier this week at the age of 92.

Dr. Gish earned a PhD in biochemistry from the University of California - Berkeley. He served as Vice-President of the Institute for Creation Research (ICR). He is known for 300 debates with evolutionists. His success prompted evolutionists to cease debating creationists.

His book Evolution: The Fossils Say No became a classic. He later updated it with Evolution: The Fossils Still Say No and wrote Creation Scientists Answer Their Critics, in addition to several articles critical of Darwinian evolution.

Dr. Gish was not a big man physically, but intellectually and inspirationally he was a giant.

If Bacteria Remain Bacteria, Is That Evolution in Action?

Joel Kontinen

Evolution in action is a mantra we hear every now and then. One of the primary causes for this is that some bacteria are resistant to antibiotics. However, this has little, if anything, to do with evolution, as research has shown that bacteria that predate the medical use of antibiotics were resistant to antibiotics.

Furthermore, bacteria always remain bacteria, just like fruit flies remain fruit flies, regardless of headlines suggesting that evolution has occurred.

ICR’s latest That’s a Fact video looks at “evolving bacteria”.

Creation Facts on Vimeo

Joel Kontinen

The Institute for Creation Research has produced a series of short (1.5 minutes) videos on a variety of topics related to creation.

Each week, ICR releases a new That's a Fact video. Last week’s video was on flood stories. Previous videos have for instance discussed “useless” body parts, evolution in action, the uniqueness of humans and the second law of thermodynamics.

You can access the videos here.

Duane Gish, Legendary Creationist Biochemist, Turns 90

Doctor Duane Gish turns 90 today. Image courtesy of CreationWiki.

Joel Kontinen

At a time when skeptics claimed that no real scientist would doubt Darwinian evolution, Duane Gish, who has a PhD in biochemistry from the University of California, Berkley, rose up to the challenge and showed that it was evolution that was not true.

Together with Dr. Henry Morris, the founder and president of the Institute for Creation Research (ICR), Dr. Gish took part in debates in major US universities. They succeeded so well that evolutionists eventually recommended against debating creationists.

In addition to taking part in 300 debates, Dr. Gish has written 5 books, published 40 papers in scientific journals and written several popular-level articles.

ICR: 40 Years of Creation Research

Joel Kontinen

Forty years ago Dr. Henry Morris, then a hydraulics professor at Virginia Tech, established the Institute for Creation Research (ICR). From a humble beginning, ICR has grown into a remarkable apologistic organisation known throughout the world for its creation research and criticism of evolution.

ICR researchers have made some remarkable breakthroughs. Dr. John Baumgardner for instance discovered that both coal and diamonds contain measurable amounts of carbon-14. The half life of C-14 is approximately 5,700 years so diamonds that are assumed to be millions of years old should not contain any radiocarbon.

ICR has also published tens of books and a layman’s magazine called Acts & Facts. Last year it participated in making the documentary The Mysterious Islands. ICR has an educational centre in Dallas, Texas, and for 16 years operated the Museum of Creation and Earth History at Santee, California. The museum is currently run by the Life and Light Foundation.

Another Expulsion?

Joel Kontinen

Texas has in effect expelled any critical evaluation of origins issues. The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board refused to give accreditation to the ICR Graduate School's Science Education program. This is strange since the very same program was already accredited in California. The Institute for Creation Research (ICR) moved its headquarters to Texas last year and had to apply for accreditation in Texas for its MA programme.

Ben Stein’s film Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed pointed out the dismal lack of academic freedom in science education. The refusal to grant the ICR’s Graduate School accreditation shows that intelligence is still not allowed.
