The Long War Against God

Mankind’s long war against God did not begin with Charles Darwin. The rebellion originated in Eden when Adam and Eve turned against their Maker.

The rebellion had tragic consequences that we still witness in the media. In addition to thorns and thistles, the Fall also had an effect on human morality. It is not only seen as wars and mass murders but also in attitudes.

Often, people chose to deny the very existence of God. Some others, like Adam and Eve, assumed that God does not mean what He clearly says (for instance, about His Word, His nature, man’s origin and marriage.)

Bad choices and bad strategies always lead to bad consequences. Melanie Phillips, an award-winning British journalist and author, has shown that in Great Britain the overemphasis on ”tolerance” has led to the trampling of Christian values and to a real discrimination of Christians.

According to Phillips, irrationalism has increased drastically in Great Britain. Homosexuals and Muslims are favoured and Christian values are despised. Anti-Semitism is increasing and is seen as rabid opposition to almost anything Israel does.

The apostle Paul says in Romans that when people begin to worship created beings instead of the Creator, the result is a huge catastrophe.

50 Years Ago: The Book That Brought Noah’s Flood Back to News Headlines

In 1959, when evolutionists celebrated the 100th anniversary of The Origin of Species, Sir Julian Huxley proclaimed that creationism was practically dead.

Sir Julian Huxley (1887-1975) was the grandson of Thomas Henry Huxley, who was known as Darwin’s bulldog.

Two years after Huxley’s prediction, doctors John Whitcomb and Henry Morris published their book The Genesis Flood that showed that the Flood of Noah’s day was not a myth but a real historical event.

Dr. Whitcomb was a theologian and Dr. Morris an expert in hydraulics. Whitcomb knew what the Bible said about the Flood and Morris understood what a lot of water could do.

Over 200, 000 copies of the book have been sold. It marked a real renaissance in biblical creationism.

ICR: 40 Years of Creation Research

Forty years ago Dr. Henry Morris, then a hydraulics professor at Virginia Tech, established the Institute for Creation Research (ICR). From a humble beginning, ICR has grown into a remarkable apologistic organisation known throughout the world for its creation research and criticism of evolution.

ICR researchers have made some remarkable breakthroughs. Dr. John Baumgardner for instance discovered that both coal and diamonds contain measurable amounts of carbon-14. The half life of C-14 is approximately 5,700 years so diamonds that are assumed to be millions of years old should not contain any radiocarbon.

ICR has also published tens of books and a layman’s magazine called Acts & Facts. Last year it participated in making the documentary The Mysterious Islands. ICR has an educational centre in Dallas, Texas, and for 16 years operated the Museum of Creation and Earth History at Santee, California. The museum is currently run by the Life and Light Foundation.

“Evolution is both theory and fact”?

Richard Dawkins said that evolution made it possible to be an intellectually fulfilled atheist. No wonder, then, that many latter day atheists are aghast at any criticism of Darwinian evolution.

For instance Austin Cline of About.com recently showed his displeasure at people who would dare doubt Darwinism. He claimed that evolution “is both theory and fact”. In the same context he said, “Everything in science is supposed to proceed by tentative theories rather than dogmatic pronouncements.”

Obviously, seen from an atheistic perspective, “evolution is fact” is not a dogmatic pronouncement. Yet many Darwinists have a prior commitment to a certain dogma. Richard Lewinton confessed that scientists often choose to make up “unsubstantiated just-so stories ” because they “have a prior commitment, a commitment to materialism… Moreover, that materialism is an absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door.”

In other words, if a tentative theory points to a designer, it is excluded – on philosophical grounds. It is no wonder Dr. Henry Morris called his last book Some Call It Science.

The problem with Darwinian evolution is that it only allows naturalistic explanations. It is not a search for truth or even for knowledge.
