Sun Myung Moon, the founder of the Unification Church or “The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity” died earlier this week at the age of 92.
Rev. Moon did much good. He spoke against communism and western liberalism. He promoted world peace and the traditional concept of marriage (although he divorced his first wife).
However, he also claimed that he was the messiah, mankind’s saviour. His followers revered his writings as holy writ.
Initially, he believed that Jesus Christ had chosen him for a special ministry, but with the passing of years he began to have an increasingly lofty and unique view of himself.
Jesus warned us of false Christs (such as Sun Myung Moon) who lead people astray.
